What to do if a merchant doesn't recognize your On Me gift card

It can be frustrating when you are ready to check out at a supported brand, but the cashier tells you they don't accept "On Me" gift cards.

Because On Me cards are curated by interest (like "Coffee On Me" or "Running On Me"), individual merchant employees may not recognize our brand name. However, there is no need to worry! Your On Me card functions exactly like a standard digital debit card, meaning their payment terminal will accept it even if the cashier doesn't know our name.

If you run into this issue at the register, here is exactly what to do:

Use Tap to Pay

Ensure you have added your On Me card to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. When the cashier is ready, simply use Tap to Pay by holding your phone near the card reader, just like you would with your personal debit card.

Tap-to-pay at register

It works as a Debit Card

If the payment terminal asks you to choose between Debit or Credit, select Debit and if it asks for a PIN, use the code 0000.
