Help, my transaction declined!

Reasons why your transaction might have declined, and what you can do about it

Supported merchants

declines-asset-supported-merchants

On Me gift cards can be spent in-store and online at supported merchants, and each gift card category has a unique list of merchants. If you make a transaction attempt with a merchant that is not supported by your On Me gift card, it won’t go through.

You can view the full list of supported brands directly in the app using the ‘Where You Can Spend’ feature, or visit onme.com for details.

If a supported merchant declines your transaction, and you believe this is an error, please contact support and we’ll quickly resolve the issue!

Insufficient funds

On Me gift cards work like debit cards, so you can only spend as much as you have. You can easily add funds through the On Me website and app.

Incorrect PIN

The PIN for all On Me gift cards is 0000. It will always be 0000, and there is no way to override it. You won’t always be asked for your PIN, but if you are asked, enter 0000.

Frozen card

You can freeze any On Me gift card through the app at any time. When a card is frozen, no transactions can be made on that card.

If your card appears to be frozen, and you didn’t initiate the freeze, your card may be suspended. If you believe this is an error, please contact support.

International charges and travel

On Me gift cards are available for purchase and use within the United States only. As a result, your transaction may decline if you make a purchase with a business that is based outside of the US.

If you make a purchase with travel website (i.e. TripAdvisor) for a trip or activity abroad, you may be charged in that location's local currency. This can result in a declined transaction, as On Me gift cards can only be used in the US, and with US dollars. If you have any questions, please contact support.
